My Bio

Few Words About Me

Hi my name is Liz McElaney

Hi, my name is Liz. I am 28 years old. I grew up in a little beach town in Southern Massachusetts. In high school I focused more on my studies and after-school job than playing sports or being active. I moved to Arizona when I graduated, originally planning to earn my degree in Psychology. I was also very interested in nutrition. My parents always taught me that eating a healthy diet was important, and I decided to make the switch to a vegetarian diet when I was a teenager. As I grew older, nutrition was something that became more important to me- so important that I changed my major and decided I wanted to help others learn to use nutrition to live a healthier, happier lifestyle.
While in college, I was working in a hospital in the dietary department, getting a feel for a career in clinical dietetics. I also joined a fitness studio that focused on functional training. Inspired by what I learned there, I helped a few family friends get in shape and improve their health by working out with them. I realized that I was happier training them than I was within the walls of a hospital. I really enjoy helping others reach their goals by working out with them and teaching them the benefits of eating a healthy diet. In the hospital, I felt that my passion and knowledge weren’t being put to the right use. Clinical dietetics is extremely important, but I enjoy preventative health much more, and that shows through the results that my clients get.
I have my Masters of Science in Obesity Prevention and Management and my Bachelors of Science in Dietetics. I completed both of my degrees at Arizona State University.  I started CORE by Liz because I love to share my knowledge and passion with others in a way that will make their life better. I am dedicated to helping others reach their goals, feel healthier, and gain confidence. Fitness has done that for me, and it’s now my job to let it help others!
